Our approach
Prison Audio is a Canadian audio, media, and creative platform. We collect only the information needed to operate accounts, provide listening and creation tools, protect the service, and communicate with people who contact us.
Information we collect
When you sign in with Google, Google provides your name, email address, and profile picture. We use your email to identify your account and assign the appropriate listener, creator, or administrator role.
We may also collect information you submit through our forms, saved episodes and clips, account preferences, and ordinary technical information such as browser type, approximate network information, timestamps, and security logs.
Story Studio and payment information
For a paid production project, we may collect the purchaser’s contact details, relationship to the participant, facility and project information, interview questions, recordings, transcripts, approvals, and delivery instructions. Payment card and banking details are processed by Stripe; Prison Audio does not receive complete card numbers. We retain transaction identifiers, payment status, package details, and records needed to deliver the service, prevent fraud, and meet accounting obligations.
Audio and creator content
Audio, artwork, writing, music, instructions, and other materials submitted for production may be stored and processed to provide the requested service, prepare releases, support creators, and maintain appropriate records. Public releases are intentionally made available to listeners.
How we use information
- Provide accounts, saved items, playback, clipping, creator tools, and dashboards.
- Authenticate users and protect Prison Audio from abuse or unauthorized access.
- Respond to questions, applications, support requests, and partnership inquiries.
- Produce and publish content as directed or agreed with creators and account stewards.
- Improve reliability, accessibility, safety, and the user experience.
Cookies and local storage
We use a secure session cookie to keep signed-in users authenticated. The player may use local browser storage for liked episodes, saved clips, and similar preferences. You can clear this information through your browser or by signing out.
Service providers and disclosure
We use service providers for authentication, hosting, storage, security, production, and distribution. These providers receive information only as needed to perform their services. We do not sell personal information. We may disclose information when required by law, to protect rights or safety, or with your direction or consent.
Retention and security
We retain information only as long as reasonably needed for the purposes described here, our agreements, legal requirements, dispute resolution, and service security. We use access controls, encrypted connections, protected credentials, and other reasonable safeguards, but no online system can guarantee absolute security.
Your choices
You may ask to access, correct, or delete personal information associated with your account, subject to legal and operational requirements. You can disconnect Prison Audio through your Google Account and sign out from the player at any time.
Children
Public user accounts are not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information without appropriate consent, contact us.
Changes and contact
We may update this policy as the service develops. Material changes will be reflected by a new effective date. Questions or privacy requests can be sent to mike@prisonaudio.com.
