LaShawn Fitch,

a dynamic force hailing from Asbury Park and Neptune, New Jersey, has dedicated his life to fighting for justice, both within the confines of prison walls and beyond. Born into adversity but fueled by an unyielding spirit, Fitch's journey has been one of resilience, activism, and intellectual prowess.

At 34 years old, Fitch's story is one of both triumph and tribulation. Wrongfully convicted and sentenced to 40 years in Monmouth County Courthouse in 2014, his life took an unexpected turn. However, even behind bars, Fitch refused to be defined by his circumstances. Instead, he immersed himself in the study of law, emerging as a formidable legal mind during his 15-year incarceration.

Representing himself in trial in 2014 and later in a post-conviction hearing in May 2023, Fitch showcased his legal acumen and unwavering determination. His efforts didn't stop there. Working as a paralegal within the New Jersey State Prison system, Fitch became a beacon of hope for his fellow inmates. As the Director of the Inmate Legal Association Inc., he spearheaded initiatives to provide legal assistance to the incarcerated population, filing numerous appeals, post-conviction applications, and civil rights lawsuits.

Beyond his legal endeavors, Fitch is a multifaceted individual with a passion for writing and public speaking. Whether crafting books, rap lyrics, or compelling speeches, his creativity knows no bounds. As an instructor of Advanced Civil Litigation and a member of Toastmasters International, Fitch has honed his skills as a captivating orator, using his voice to advocate for change and shed light on the injustices within the criminal justice system.

Fitch's impact extends far beyond prison walls. His advocacy has garnered attention from media outlets such as The New Jersey Monitor, where he has fearlessly spoken out against the harsh realities of incarceration. As the host of "Order in the Court," a legal podcast, he continues to amplify his message, engaging listeners in conversations about law, justice, and social reform.

Despite facing adversity, Leshawn Fitch remains undeterred in his pursuit of justice. With two civil rights lawsuits pending and a steadfast commitment to challenging unjust policies, he serves as a shining example of resilience, courage, and the unwavering pursuit of truth.
